Questions

Prospective students face a lot of uncertainty when choosing their universities and majors to study. How might we alleviate some that anxiety?

Outcome

A service that allow prospective students to audit college courses before committing to a school or major.

RESEARCH

  • Interviews with 33 current high school juniors and seniors, and current freshmen in college

  • Interviews with two university administrators

  • Desk research on nine universities on what they are currently offering for prospective students

RESULTS

  • 87% of participants use a navigation app to find directions

  • 86% of participants believe that integrating other languages would improve the riding experience

  • 68% of participants find the subway signage to be confusing

  • 28% of participants use a navigation app to identify their current station

VALIDATIONS

  • Prospective students face a lot of uncertainty in choosing their majors and schools and would appreciate a service that would allow them to preview the classes before committing to a course or a school.

  • Schools would like to see potential students who audit the classes to convert into fully matriculated students.

  • Schools are looking for ways to increase their retention and on time graduation rates.

  • Schools do not currently have programs in place for students to try courses.

MINIMUM VIABLE PROPOSITION

An Instagram profile that leads people to a website to sign up for mailing list for launch information, resulting in 50 subscribers, after being live for one day.
